Sea level rise multimedia activity

This multimedia activity was conceived as a complementary class activity for the lesson plan provided in the OCE guidebook The climate in our hands - Ocean and Cryosphere.

Through this activity, the students can find out the flood risks associated to the sea level rise projected for 2100, if greenhouse gas emissions were to follow the highest-emission scenario considered by the IPCC, in their AR5 report (scenario RCP 8.5).

Taking into account geography, population density and the projected mean sea level in 2100, the future flood risks are presented for five coastal regions across the world: the Mississippi (USA), the Nile (Egypt) and the Ganges (Bangladesh) river deltas, the Netherlands, and the Tuvalu archipelago.
